About Lightning

Founded in 2016, Sunshine Coast Lightning quickly made a name for themselves in Australian netball, partly thanks to their unique backing by NRL club Melbourne Storm. The team's success has been built on a strong community passion for sport, a renowned academic institution dedicated to elite performance, and a partnership with one of Australia’s top professional sporting organisations. This winning formula helped them claim the inaugural Suncorp Super Netball championship in 2017.

They didn’t stop there—Lightning went back-to-back, securing a second premiership in 2018 and making a third consecutive grand final in 2019. While they haven’t quite hit those same heights in recent years, the team is stacked full of talent and are ready to make their mark once again.
