Karly Guadagnin has been revealed as the coach of the Western Sting for the 2019 Deakin University Australian Netball League season.
Guadagnin, who’s role focuses on team performance during the DUANL season, will be assisted by Assistant Coach Cherie Farnan, Manager Suzanne Lennon and Performance Analyst Gary Dawson while the program will be overseen by West Coast Fever Assistant Coach Belinda Reynolds.
“I’m very excited to work alongside, and learn from, our successful West Coast Fever department,” Guadagnin said.
Few coaches are more familiar with the local talent that exists in Western Australia than Karly Guadagnin who guided Western Australian Netball League team the West Coast Warriors to back to back premierships in 2016 and 2017.
Having the opportunity to groom gifted Western Australian netballers for the Suncorp Super Netball league and create a culture of success at the Western Sting was a huge factor for Guadagnin taking the role.
“We have a lot of great talent here in WA that I am excited to work with, and I am really looking forward to creating an environment that allows us to push for team success, while also assisting individual player development for the next level.”
After four strong seasons which saw the Sting win bronze medals in 2014, 15 and 16 and gold in 2017, the Sting finished sixth last season.
Guadagnin, who earlier this year became just the eighth coach in Western Australia to attain her High Performance Coaching Accreditation, will be hoping to get the Western Sting back on track in 2019.
West Coast Fever Managing Director Simon Taylor highlighted Guadagnin’s consistency and is confident that the staff assembled is the right fit for the job.
