Hunt has been on the Board of Netball Australia since 2012 and Chair of the Board since March 2017.
Netball Australia CEO Marne Fechner said the organisation was thrilled by Hunt’s re-appointment and that netball in Australia will continue to benefit greatly from her passion, expertise and knowledge.
“Paolina has already made a significant contribution to Netball Australia since stepping into the role of Chair two years ago. Her commitment and ability to establish strong relationships at every level of the sport has been invaluable as netball has undergone significant change in driving a new strategic agenda,” Fechner said.
“Paolina brings a broad range of commercial experiences to the role and a passion for and belief in the impact that netball has in communities, every week of every year. She has also shown outstanding system leadership as we collectively work to ensure netball remains the number one team sport for girls and women in Australia – the sport is in great hands.”
Hunt holds a law degree and an MBA and has extensive business experience across a range of industries. She has also been involved in netball as a player, coach, umpire and administrator.
Hunt spoke of what it means to her to continue her leadership role with Netball Australia.
“It is a great honour to represent our sport and be re-elected Chair. Sport in Australia is experiencing a major transformation, with women’s codes coming to the fore,” Hunt said.
“For over 90 years, netball has played the lead role in inspiring and empowering women and girls in Australian communities. The role of the Netball Australia Board is to ensure netball continues to set new benchmarks and provide further opportunities for all Australians involved with the game.
“The success of Suncorp Super Netball, and the recent $30 million funding commitment from the Coalition Government, will support investment into Netball Australia’s strategic priorities, providing the opportunity for another significant step change in the growth of the sport.”
“Looking ahead, the Board looks forward to progressing its strategic agenda in partnership with our member organisations, where the focus will be on continuing to grow netball’s national footprint and strong presence in communities.”
The Netball Australia Board meets again later this month.
