Here we outline some key events on the netball calendar this year, from international blockbusters to the grassroots events.
Netball Quad Series
The Origin Australian Diamonds are set to jet off to Cape Town to take part in the Netball Quad Series from January 22 to January 26.
The Diamonds will face netball rivals England, New Zealand and South Africa in preparation for this year’s Netball World Cup.
The 2022 Quad Series ignited the Diamonds stellar year on the international stage, will history repeat itself in 2023?
Suncorp Super Netball Season 7
The seventh season of Suncorp Super Netball will begin on March 18 with a blockbuster grand final rematch between the West Coast Fever and Melbourne Vixens headlining round one.
The Easter long weekend in round four will feature three days of action with matches to be held across Saturday, Sunday and Monday.
For the first time in league history, a match will be played on ANZAC Day with the Collingwood Magpies to face the Sunshine Coast Lightning.
An inaugural inclusion round will be played in round eight and First Nations round will return across rounds 11 and 12 to coincide with National Reconciliation Week.
Rivals the Collingwood Magpies and Melbourne Vixens will play on the King’s Birthday public holiday before finals begin on Saturday 24 June.
The biggest date in the Suncorp Super Netball calendar will be Saturday July 8 when the season’s powerhouses go head-to-head in the Suncorp Super Netball Grand Final.
The Netball World Cup
The road to Cape Town is set, the most prestigious international netball event the Netball World Cup will take place from July 28 to August 6 and the Origin Australian Diamonds will be raring to go.
The Diamonds will come up against Fiji, Tonga and Zimbabwe in Pool A of the Netball World Cup during the preliminary round robin rounds.
Sixteen of the world’s best teams will feature throughout the event.
Fresh off a Commonwealth Games gold medal the Diamonds will be looking to secure the World Cup having narrowly lost to New Zealand in 2019.
With a home Netball World Cup to follow in 2027, the Diamonds will be aiming to reclaim the silverware.
Woolworths NetSetGO
Woolworths NetSetGO will continue to run throughout 2023, introducing the next generation of netballers to the sport.
Australia’s official starter program for kids aged five to 10, Woolworths NetSetGO will continue to give children a chance to learn the netball basics, get outside and make some friends throughout the year.
