In accordance with the Netball Australia Constitution, the SGM was convened at the request of a number of Member Organisations and a resolution to remove Ms Corboy from the Board was supported by a majority of delegates of the Member Organisations.
There was no suggestion that Ms Corboy had breached her duties as a director or acted in any way contrary to the best interests of the sport.
Anne-Marie played a considerable role in overseeing one of Netball Australia’s most successful and challenging years, with the launch of Suncorp Super Netball seeing significant increases in revenue, attendances, broadcast figures and players’ remuneration and conditions. Participation numbers are up and the Diamonds have continued their world number one form.
The Board thanks her for her significant contribution to the success the sport is currently enjoying.
“Anne-Marie Corboy is one of Australia’s most respected company directors and corporate leaders. While the circumstances of her departure are regrettable, her achievements as a Chair and director of Netball Australia can never be diminished,” acknowledged the Board.
“Anne Marie’s business management skills and governance experience proved a tremendous asset to the Board and she leaves netball in a stronger place than when she arrived.
‘She was Chair at the time the landmark broadcasting deal was finalised last year and in that context was integral to securing a bright future for netball players, officials and spectators at all levels.
“We wish Anne-Marie every success in the future with her numerous other commitments in business and sport.”
