Whilst the situation is constantly evolving, the health and wellbeing of the netball community - athletes, coaches, team personnel, officials, volunteers and staff - is paramount and the potential impact on our people will be at the forefront of any decision made.
Netball Australia has established a COVID-19 working group to ensure all stakeholders have the most relevant and timely information on hand and at this stage, all national events under the auspices of Netball Australia (see list below) will go ahead as planned.
Netball Australia will continue to monitor the situation and act on advice from our medical experts, the Australian Government and organisations such as Sport Australia and the Australian Institute of Sport.
We ask that all the netball family - athletes, coaches, team personnel, officials, volunteers and staff:
- practice high levels of hygiene as per the Government guidelines;
- follow the Department of Health Advice about self-isolating which aims to help limit the spread of coronavirus;
- If you have left or transited through mainland China or Iran in the last 14 days, you must isolate yourself for 14 days from the date of leaving mainland China/Iran.
- If you have left or transited through the Republic of Korea on or after 5 March 2020 you must isolate yourself for 14 days after the date of leaving the Republic of Korea.
- If you have been in close contact with a proven case of coronavirus, you must isolate yourself for 14 days from the date of last contact with the confirmed case.
- If you have left or transited through Italy on or after 11 March you must isolate yourself for 14 days from the time you left Italy.
- if you become unwell and think you may have symptoms of coronavirus, seek medical attention or if you cannot see your GP, call the hotline in your State or Territory.
Sport specific hygiene is also important so emphasis should be on not sharing drink bottles or towels.
