“Both Karen and Glenn will bring a diverse and welcome set of skills to the existing Board and will be a terrific asset in assisting and enhancing the position of Netball in the Australian sporting landscape,” Netball Australia President Noeleen Dix said.
“Karen understands the importance and can be justifiably proud of the social media engagement and enthusiasm of the netball fans and wider audience during, and post, the recent hugely successful Netball World Cup.
“Glenn has a strong interest in networking with people and organisations and in project management across a variety of organisations.”
Stocks, Managing Director of Twitter Australia and Netball World Cup SYDNEY 2015 Ambassador, has a wealth of knowledge through her career in telecommunications, digital media and online commercial businesses.
“As a fan of the game, both as a spectator and a former player, I couldn’t be more thrilled to be joining the board of Netball Australia,” Stocks, who joins the Board for a three-year term, said.
“With the success of the just completed Netball World Cup 2015 and the ever growing popularity of netball at all levels, it’s an exciting time to get even more involved in and spread the word about the sport I love.”
Russell, Partner at PwC Australia and Director in PwC Brisbane, is a Chartered Accountant and solicitor with a track record of advising senior management and Boards of public and private companies in strategic financial management. Russell’s appointment is for a two-year term.
“I’m very excited and grateful for the opportunity (to join the Board),” Russell said.
“Being the largest female participation sport in Australia and ranked number one in the world presents some unique challenges for continued growth so I’m looking forward to what contribution I can make and the new and exciting opportunities that exist.”
