About PacificAus Sports
The PacificAus Sports program is creating new opportunities for athletes, coaches and administrators to train, play and grow together. Through collaborative and ambitious partnerships, the program will drive success for the Pacific sports community, unlocking the potential of a new generation of sporting champions.
Netball Australia has partnered with the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade since 2010 to build capacity and help deliver sports-based programs that achieve social development objectives for netball federations in the Pacific.
Through PacificAus Sports, Pacific teams will have increased access to Australian competitions, talented young Pacific athletes will have more access to high-performance coaching, and players will have more exposure to international training and match experience.
The three-year program is also investing in the development of sports professionals across the region, supporting access to best-practice education and training for coaches, administrators and support staff.
Key activities across the three years include:
- Support for qualification opportunities into international and major events;
- Exchange opportunities for talented Pacific netballers to train and play in Australia;
- Training camps in Australia and on the ground in the Pacific;
