Here’s everything you need to know about the contract signing period and how the signing window works.
When is the contract signing window?
The contract signing window is open and will run until Friday 28 August.
When can clubs re-sign their current players?
Until Sunday 16 August, clubs can only re-sign their own players.
During this period, clubs can make non-binding letters of offer to players from other Super Netball clubs and non-SN players.
When can clubs sign players from other Super Netball teams and non-SN players?
Until Sunday 16 August, clubs can only make non-binding letters of offer to players from other Super Netball clubs and non-SN players.
From Monday 17 August to Friday 28 August, clubs can sign players from other Super Netball clubs and non-SN players.
Players signed during this period will finalise each team’s contracted squads of 10 for 2027.
How long can a club sign a player for?
Players can be signed on multi-year contracts of up to 5 years (through to end of 2031).
Clubs can re-sign players until Sunday 16 August.
What about training partners?
Training partners and Nominated Athletes can be signed from Sunday 29 August up until four weeks before the first game of the 2027 season.
Training partners can only be contracted on a one-year contract.
Can clubs still choose to elevate an eleventh player?
Teams can choose to upgrade one of their four Nominated Athletes as their club’s eleventh player for 2027.
What are the eligibility criteria the eleventh player must meet?
Eligibility for a player to be selected as a team’s eleventh player is down to three criteria. The first two must be met, while the third requires one of two options.
Must be contracted for 2027 as a Nominated Athlete
Must be eligible to represent Australia in accordance with World Netball Regulations and/or has not represented another National Association’s national representative team(s) in any International Event in the last 4 years
Must be aged 26 or younger OR has not taken to the court in more than five Super Netball and/or ANZ Championship matches

Super Netball athletes will start pre-season for 2027 with improved pay and conditions, more time off, and greater ability to sign individual sponsorship deals following agreement of an updated collective player agreement.
What does the GIANTS' licence transfer mean for players during the signing period?
Netball NSW and Sports Entertainment Group (SEG) recently announced that ownership of the GIANTS Netball Super Netball licence will transfer to SEG ahead of the 2027 season.
The decision to transfer the licence from 1 October 2026 ensures certainty as the new franchise looks to secure players in the current Super Netball contracting window. Current Head Coach Nerida Stewart and Assistant Coach Jen Wright also remain in their respective roles through 2027 as contracted.
