Netball Australia is pleased to support the announcements by Netball NSW and Sports Entertainment Group (SEG) today that parties have reached an agreement to transfer ownership of the GIANTS Netball Super Netball licence to SEG ahead of the 2027 season.
The new-look franchise will remain in the growing Western Sydney market, with a team name, logo and colours to be unveiled shortly. The team intend to continue to play home games at Sydney Olympic Park for the upcoming season.
The decision to transfer the licence from 1 October 2026 ensures certainty as the new franchise looks to secure players in the upcoming Super Netball contracting window. Current Head Coach Nerida Stewart and Assistant Coach Jen Wright also remain in their respective roles through 2027 as contracted.
The Board of Netball Australia approved the licence transfer and gave consideration to the governance, ownership, operational and financial information relevant to the transaction.

The licence transfer comes as Netball Australia shares strong results from the 2026 Super Netball season including new benchmarks for fan engagement, broadcast audiences, attendance and digital reach.
In 2026, four of the league's eight clubs achieved all-time membership records, including the Melbourne Vixens becoming the first club to surpass 10,000 members. The Vixens, West Coast Fever and Melbourne Mavericks each set new home-and-away attendance records, while the record for the highest regular season crowd in Suncorp Super Netball history was eclipsed twice ā first in Round 2, when the NSW Swifts and GIANTS Netball hosted a league-first double header attracting 13,462 fans to Qudos Bank Arena, before a crowd of 13,857 packed RAC Arena in Round 12 when Fever hosted the Mavericks.
The league also recorded its most-streamed season ever, with regular season broadcast audiences growing by 15 per cent year-on-year. The momentum culminated in the leagueās fifth consecutive sold-out Grand Final, showcasing the continued demand for Australia's premier women's sporting competition.
Digital engagement reached unprecedented levels, with the Netball Live app recording 6.6 million page views, up 20 per cent on 2025, while netball.com.au generated 4 million page views. Across social media, Super Netballās following grew 7.6 per cent to 578,000, generating more than 98 million impressions and 5 million engagements..
