Suncorp Super Netball has broken its Round 1 attendance record.
Fans have packed the stands at Suncorp Super Netball venues across the country, driving record Round 1 attendance and sending a powerful signal about their commitment to the world’s best netball league.
Across Round 1, a record 22,369 fans attended matches nationally – an increase of eight per cent on 2024 Round 1 attendee figures that set the league’s previous record last year.
The strong start to the regular season follows strong interest in last month’s Suncorp Team Girls Cup and pre-season matches, proving that interest in netball is continuing to grow, and our fans and members are voting with their feet.
“We are the world’s best netball league, and the weekend’s Round 1 attendance record proves just that,” said Netball Australia’s CEO Stacey West.
“We are on a growth trajectory at Netball, and this week’s record attendance reflects the dedication and enthusiasm of our Suncorp Super Netball fans, as well as our commitment to creating unforgettable experiences both on and off the court.
“And we hope that the momentum will continue to build across our rounds and towards the 2025 Suncorp Super Netball Grand Final which will be played in our biggest venue yet at Rod Laver Arena.”
In addition to the Round 1 attendance record, Netball Australia is also pleased to announce the renewal of its partnership with long-term supporter Suncorp. This extension cements 10 years of Suncorp partnering with Netball Australia.
The renewal ensures continued support for the league’s growth over the next year, with Suncorp remaining the Naming Rights Partner for the Suncorp Super Netball League.
Suncorp also remain the Major Partner of Woolworths NetSetGo and the Origin Australian Diamonds.
"It’s been a thrilling start to the Suncorp Super Netball Season,” Lisa Harrison, Chief Executive Consumer Insurance at Suncorp said.
“Suncorp is proud to be continuing our longstanding partnership with Netball Australia, supporting grassroots initiatives, the Suncorp Super Netball League and the Australian Diamonds.
“Our commitment to supporting netball across all levels and elevating women's sport remains, and we are thrilled to be extending our collaboration with Netball Australia with this shared goal."
Round 2 of the Suncorp Super Netball will open in Queensland on Saturday night with the Queensland Firebirds taking on the West Coast Fever.
