Suncorp Super Netball officially launched its 2026 season in Brisbane today, with a new trophy unveiled to mark a milestone 10th year for the world’s best netball league.
Beginning this weekend, the 2026 season follows a record-breaking 2025 campaign that cemented Suncorp Super Netball’s status as the most attended league in Australian women’s sport, with over 386,000 fans packing stadiums across the country.
Athletes from the eight Suncorp Super Netball teams, Netball Australia CEO Stacey West and Chair Liz Ellis AO unveiled the new custom designed and manufactured trophy, made from solid brass bronze in 24ct gold finish with an Australian timber base.
The new design is a modern reinterpretation of the existing trophy, honouring the competition’s history while also reflecting its identity as the world’s best netball league. The trophy is a symbol of all players – past, present, and future.
The 2025 season was the biggest in league history, culminating in a historic Grand Final where over 15,000 fans filled Melbourne’s Rod Laver Arena – the largest crowd ever recorded for a Suncorp Super Netball match. Broadcast audiences also reached new heights, with the 2025 Grand Final becoming the most-watched Suncorp Super Netball game ever on Kayo Sports and Foxtel.
Building on that momentum, 2026 promises blockbuster moments from Round 1, with fresh faces and big names in new colours following one of the biggest player movement periods yet.
A marquee NSW–Victoria double header in Round 2 will ignite one of Australian sport’s greatest rivalries, as the GIANTS host reigning champions the Melbourne Vixens and the NSW Swifts take on the Melbourne Mavericks at Sydney’s Qudos Bank Arena – fittingly, 100 years since the first recorded interstate clash between New South Wales and Victoria, also played in Sydney.
A three-week finals series will start in June with the 2026 Suncorp Super Netball Grand Final to be hosted in Melbourne on Saturday 4 July, delivered in partnership with Visit Victoria.
The season will wrap up ahead of July’s Commonwealth Games in Glasgow, where the Australian Diamonds will set out to win back-to-back gold medals following their triumph in Birmingham in 2022.
The 2026 season launch also celebrated the sport’s ongoing partnership with Suncorp, who have proudly partnered with Netball Australia since 2017 and continue to champion the game at every level – from grassroots to the elite national competition.
Netball Australia CEO Stacey West said: “Ten seasons ago, Suncorp Super Netball set a new benchmark for women’s sport in this country. In 2026, we celebrate not only how far we’ve come, but where we’re going.
“Last year’s record-breaking season showed the passion and the belief Australians have in this league and its athletes. From packed stadiums to record audiences tuning in across the country, the growth of Suncorp Super Netball has been extraordinary.
“As we enter our 10th season, we are raising the bar again – delivering world-class competition, unforgettable fan experiences and inspiring the next generation of netballers. This season will be our biggest and boldest yet.”
Suncorp Chief Executive Consumer Insurance Lisa Harrison said: “At Suncorp, we are incredibly proud to enter our tenth season as the principal partner of the Suncorp Super Netball League.
“Netball is the heartbeat of so many Australian communities. It’s a sport where women can excel and young girls can find the confidence to reach their full potential.
“Through our Suncorp Super Shot initiative and our work with the Confident Girls Foundation, we’ve seen firsthand how this sport builds resilience and brings people together.
“We are thrilled to continue our support of these world-class athletes who inspire the next generation of girls both on and off the court.”
