The 2026 season has cemented Suncorp Super Netball’s position as the world's best netball league, setting new benchmarks for fan engagement, broadcast audiences, attendance and digital reach.
Fans turned out in record numbers throughout the season, with four of the league's eight clubs achieving all-time membership records, including the Melbourne Vixens becoming the first club to surpass 10,000 members.
The Vixens, West Coast Fever and Melbourne Mavericks each set new home-and-away attendance records, while the record for the highest regular season crowd in Suncorp Super Netball history was eclipsed twice – first in Round 2, when the NSW Swifts and GIANTS Netball hosted a league-first double header attracting 13,462 fans to Qudos Bank Arena, before a crowd of 13,857 packed RAC Arena in Round 12 when Fever hosted the Mavericks.
The league recorded its most-streamed season ever, with regular season broadcast audiences growing by 15 per cent year-on-year. The momentum culminated in the league’s fifth consecutive sold-out Grand Final, showcasing the continued demand for Australia's premier women's sporting competition.
Digital engagement reached unprecedented levels, with the Netball Live app recording 6.6 million page views, up 20 per cent on 2025, while netball.com.au generated 4 million page views. Across social media, Suncorp Super Netball’s following grew 7.6 per cent to 578,000, generating more than 98 million impressions and 5 million engagements.
The season also celebrated remarkable moments on and off the court. Ten mothers – eight athletes and two umpires – participated throughout the season, highlighting the league's commitment to supporting women at every stage of their careers.
Romelda Aiken-George made history by becoming the national league's all-time games record holder with her 255th appearance across the ANZ Championship and Suncorp Super Netball. She also scored her 10,000th national league goal, while the Adelaide Thunderbirds claimed their third premiership in four years to establish a modern-day dynasty.
Media interest in the competition continued to surge, with more than 17,000 media mentions recorded during the season, up 14 per cent year-on-year, while Finals Series media reach increased by 19 per cent.
Netball Australia Interim CEO Mark Falvo said the achievements reflected the strength of the competition and the growing passion Australians have for elite netball.
“From record audiences and packed arenas to unprecedented digital engagement, this year we've seen more Australians connect with our game than ever before,” Falvo said.
“These results are a testament to the incredible athletes, clubs, officials, partners and fans who continue to elevate our competition. Together, they've helped make Suncorp Super Netball the benchmark for women's domestic sport.”
Mr Falvo said the season's success provided strong momentum for the future of the game.
“Beyond the numbers, this season showcased everything that makes our competition special – world-class performances, fierce rivalries and unforgettable moments. As we build towards 2027, we're excited to continue growing the game and creating even more opportunities for fans to experience the very best of netball.”
