Defending champions the Melbourne Vixens will face the Adelaide Thunderbirds in the Suncorp Super Netball Grand Final, handing West Coast Fever an 11-goal defeat in the Preliminary Final in Melbourne on Saturday night.
In front of a 7383-strong crowd at John Cain Arena, the Vixens returned to the form that saw them win nine-straight matches to begin the season and will face the in-form Thunderbirds in next weekend’s season decider.
The Vixens flew out of the blocks with a 17–11 opening term, and Fever – competing in their league record seventh-straight finals campaign – couldn’t fight their way back.
The home side was led by strong performances from captain Kate Moloney (30 feeds, 1 pickup) and vice captain Kiera Austin (24/25, 92%), with Rudi Ellis starring in goal keeper (3 gains, 5 deflections).
The Grand Final will be held at John Cain Arena on Saturday 4 July from 7:30pm AEST, in partnership with Visit Victoria.
