Netball Australia’s Pacific Netball Series will return this June, where Brisbane will play host for the first time.
Formally known as the PacificAus Sports Netball Series, the competition will return for the fourth time, taking place between June 10 - 15 at Brisbane's Nissan Arena.
Proudly supported by the Australian Government through the PacificAus Sports program, the series aims to provide high-level competition and expose Pacific teams to a diverse range of play. It is also designed to strengthen international netball relationships while aiming to improve the standard of the sport globally, as national teams compete for world-ranking points throughout the tournament.
Competing teams who will take part in this year's edition will be announced shortly.
In previous series’ Tonga has proven the nation to beat: after claiming the 2023 title after taking down the Malawi Queens, the Tonga Talas remain undefeated in this tournament.
While successful in showcasing the skills, talents and athleticism of the Pacific netballers, the series also highlights how we can celebrate harmony through sport. Previous series have brought a taste of the Pacific to Australia, as audiences filled the stadium with traditional songs and music from their home countries.
The Series’ theme of One Court, One Family highlights how Australia and Pacific are not only united through sport, but through our history and culture. The tournament reflects the objectives behind the PacificAus Sports program which includes developing pathways for Pacific teams to play in high-level Australian sporting competitions and allowing partners to benefit from high-performance coaching and training.
Netball Samoa CEO Rosemarie Lome said their focus going into the 2024 Pacific Netball Series is to reset the dial, review, and plan.
“It’s all about making the most of opportunities and more importantly a way to show your country and family how proud you are to wear the national uniform,” Lome said.
By bringing netball nations together and paving the way for a uniquely exciting competition and style of play, the Pacific Netball Series 2024 will further build linkages and promote netball excellence in the region.
Competing teams, and details on how netball fans can watch or attend the series will be provided next week.
