Australia’s netballers are set to benefit with Commonwealth Games Australia (CGA) investing over $200,000 into the sport as part of CGA’s initial allocation of Green2Gold2Great funding announced today.
Netball will receive $26,748 to put towards foundation allocations which is a per-head commitment based on forecast team size and $190,000 to make performance initiatives, possible.
In total CGA have made a commitment of $13 million to be spread across the 22 sports that are included in what was the Victoria 2026 Commonwealth Games over the next four years.
The allocation announced for netball today is part of CGA’s initial $4.8 million injection across the sports.
Green2Gold2Great is an investment in CGA’s aim of being the number one nation in terms of gold medals won, overall medals won, total number of medallists and the number of sports winning medals at the Commonwealth Games.
CGA Chief Executive Officer Criag Phillips AM expressed CGA’s commitment to help athletes and their sports prepare for 2026.
“The Games host may be unknown for now, but what’s guaranteed is our commitment to our athletes and sports as they prepare for 2026,” Phillips AM said.
“We want our team to arrive ready to compete, with CGA funding complementing other performance investment to ensure athletes have the tools for success.”
Green2Gold2Great is made possible by the investments, sponsorship revenues and fundraising activities of CGA, including the marketing rights fee paid for the 2026 Games.
