Netball Australia has appointed experienced international sports executive Ben Slack as its new Executive General Manager Commercial and Brand to drive business growth.
Mr Slack’s appointment comes at a time of record crowds, broadcast audiences and social media engagement with Suncorp Super Netball.
Netball Australia Chief Executive Stacey West said Mr Slack’s commercial experience was a perfect fit for netball as it executes a bold and innovative growth strategy.
“The sport is in a strong position to drive sustained partnership growth with more than one million grassroots participants, established long-term stakeholder relationships and the best netball competition in the world, Suncorp Super Netball,’’ Ms West said.
Suncorp announced at the Super Netball Grand Final in Adelaide this month they would be renewing their long-term partnership with Netball Australia.
“With the world champions the Origin Australian Diamonds hosting the 2027 Netball World Cup in Sydney, it is an exciting time to be involved in the sport and this new appointment will help ensure we maximise the significant commercial opportunities in front of us.’’
Mr Slack has more than 20 years of experience in marketing, commercial and broadcast partnerships, particularly with major events, entertainment and sports industries. His most recent roles were Chief Commercial Officer for World Rugby and Chief Revenue and Experiential Officer for Tennis Australia.
Mr Slack said: "Netball has a strong foundation of fans all over the country and what strikes me most about them is their unique custodianship of the sport. There is very little like it across any other sport in the world".
"I am looking forward to working with partners, players and stakeholders to develop this even more.
"With a giant participation base, an ever-growing league in Suncorp Super Netball, and World Cup on the horizon; it is a privilege to be joining the team at such an exciting time."
