Netball Australia has today announced an extension of their more than two-decade-long partnership with sports performance brand, ASICS to become Netball Australia's head-to-toe apparel partner, celebrating the moment with a reveal of the new Australian Diamonds match dress.
Developed in close collaboration with Diamonds players including ASICS athlete Jamie-Lee Price, and featuring artwork by Yorta Yorta woman Alkina Edwards, the dress will be worn for the first time this month during the upcoming Constellation Cup.
Built for performance, the dress has been engineered for enhanced comfort and rapid movement. A mesh racer-back panel improves breathability and minimises distraction during play, while curved underarm panels are shaped specifically to allow greater freedom of movement through the shoulders and arms.
A v-neck design brings a modern edge to the dress, balanced against the traditional green and gold colour palette that has long defined the Diamonds' on-court identity.
“Being involved in the dress design is a dream come true,” said Australian Diamonds athlete Jamie-Lee Price. “As an elite athlete, performance starts from the moment you put on your uniform and tie up your laces. Being able to provide feedback throughout the design process, then see this brought to life is a reflection of true partnership and collaboration. One which I’m proud to have been a part of.”
Continuing a story of First Nations representation the new dress carries forward artwork by Alkina Edwards titled "Ganurra" (meaning "blaze" in Yorta Yorta language), first introduced on the Diamonds' Netball World Cup Cape Town 2023 uniform. It appears in tonal green across the side panels and upper back, with placement and integration refreshed for this iteration.
"'Blaze' being a very large burning fire, translates onto the netball court when the Diamonds are playing. They are fierce, like a fire," Edwards said.
The gathering circle at the centre of the design represents the unity and strength of the team. The symbols of women represent the playing group, while the surrounding lines signify the Diamonds' staff.
"The background is the land we walk and come from, which is home to the oldest living culture in the world, and it was essential I acknowledged this," Edwards said.
The design is accompanied by a trio of flags and a formal acknowledgement of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples as the traditional custodians of the land on which the Diamonds play.
This announcement builds on more than two decades of ASICS as Netball Australia's footwear partner, extending the relationship to cover apparel for the first time in several years, including the Diamonds' match dress, training range and replica range. Over that time, ASICS has supported the team across multiple World Cup campaigns, Commonwealth Games and international test series.
Netball Australia CEO Mark Falvo said, “This partnership extension is a real celebration of everything ASICS and Netball Australia have built together over more than two decades. ASICS shares our belief that the game should be supported at every level, from the grassroots courts where future generations of Diamonds are discovering their love of netball, right through to the elite level where our national team competes on the world's biggest stages.”
“We're incredibly grateful for the investment the ASICS team continues to make in our athletes and their performance. And we couldn't be more excited to bring this new range to fans, giving them the chance to wear the green and gold with the same pride our Diamonds carry every time they step onto the court,” Falvo added.
Mark Brunton, Managing Director of ASICS Oceania, reflects on the significance of the partnership extension which will see the Diamonds wearing ASICS at the Netball World Cup Sydney 2027: “As a long-standing partner of Netball Australia, we are incredibly proud of the legacy of this relationship, one that has seen us work closely together to celebrate and champion the role sport plays in the lives of Australians of all ages, uniting communities through a shared love of movement that uplifts both body and mind.
“We are deeply honoured to extend our partnership, evolving from a footwear-only agreement into a true head-to-toe relationship. With player collaboration a pivotal part of the dress redesign process, the result is something we hope athletes are incredibly proud to wear. It reflects both the legacy of the green and gold and the calibre of athlete it has been designed for,” Brunton said.
The new dress will debut when the Diamonds face New Zealand at the Constellation Cup on 18 October, ahead of the Diamonds' campaign toward the Netball World Cup Sydney 2027.
