The week-long tournament will run from 9–15 April, with the nation’s brightest emerging talent descending on Melbourne to compete for the title of national champions. Representative teams from every state and territory will contest across 17/U and 19/U age groups.
Since its inception in 1985, the National Netball Championships has played a pivotal role in shaping the future of the sport as a proven launching pad for stars of the game.
The event has provided invaluable development opportunities for athletes, coaches, umpires and officials, including many who go on to Suncorp Super Netball and Australian Diamonds level.
Talent identification will take place across the week, reinforcing the event’s status as a crucial step in Australia’s national pathway, with national squads in both age groups to be selected following the tournament.
Selected athletes will attend national camps in July, representing the next phase of development and providing exposure to elite coaching in a high performance environment.
“The National Netball Championships are a flagship event on our pathway calendar, and we’re excited to see the next generation of Australian netball talent taking centre stage in Melbourne,” said Netball Australia’s Executive General Manager of Netball, Megan Simpson.
“As a key step in the development of our athletes, coaches, umpires and officials, this event has an important role to play in shaping the future of our sport.
“We’re thrilled to partner with Visit Victoria to provide a platform for emerging talent to make their mark in the national landscape.”
The 2026 National Netball Championships fixture will be available in the coming weeks, with matches to commence in the afternoon on Thursday 9 April.
