Netball Australia’s 17/U and 19/U pathway competitions will be contested across the week of April 10-16 at Sydney’s Netball Central.
The National Netball Championships has provided an opportunity for developing athletes, coaches, umpires and officials to prosper since its inception in 1985, giving birth to countless prominent Origin Australian Diamonds and Suncorp Super Netball athletes.
The week of netball action will include representative teams from every state and territory across the country, contesting for titles across the two age groups.
Netball New South Wales will host competing squads from the Australian Capital Territory, Northern Territory, Queensland, South Australia, Tasmania, Victoria and Western Australia.
"Netball Australia is thrilled to support the National Netball Championships as a key milestone in the development of our athletes, coaches, umpires and officials,” said Netball Australia’s Executive General Manager of Netball, Megan Simpson.
"The event has proved for 39 years how vital it is for emerging talent in the national netball landscape to showcase their skills and compete against their peers on a national stage.
“This event plays a crucial role in shaping the future of netball, and we’re excited to witness the next cohort of players step up and make their mark. We look forward to celebrating the passion, dedication, and talent that continues to drive the sport forward."
The 2024 edition of the event saw South Australia claim the 17/U title and New South Wales take out gold in the 19/U competition.
Of the 2024 New South Wales 19/U winning side, Frederika Schneideman, Grace Whyte, Hope White and Monika 'Otai have been confirmed as Suncorp Super Netball training partners in 2025.
Tim Fava, Netball NSW Executive General Manager for Community and Pathways, said he was thrilled to see the 2025 Championships land in Sydney, especially given the prior success of New South Wales.
“We’re excited to be hosting the National Netball Championships at Netball Central in 2025,” Fava said.
“New South Wales has a rich history of success at Nationals and they remain one of the most important benchmarks in our performance pathway in showcasing our New South Wales athletes.
“With the Netball World Cup coming to Sydney in 2027, hosting the future stars at Nationals is a key part of that journey to our global showpiece event.
The 2025 National Netball Championships will coincide with the NSW Swifts’ first home game of the Suncorp Super Netball season, adding another level of netball excitement for local netball fans.
“We are excited that this year’s event aligns with the NSW Swifts hosting the Mavericks in Round 2 of Suncorp Super Netball on the Saturday night,” he said.
“This is a brilliant way of connecting the community, the pathway and the elite game and it promises to be a bumper week of netball in Sydney Olympic Park.”
Tickets for the National Netball Championships will go on sale to the General Public at 12:00pm (AEDT) on Wednesday 5 March, 2025 through INTIX.
The National Netball Championships is proudly supported by the NSW Government through its tourism and major events agency, Destination NSW.
