Regarded as one of the best centre court players in the modern era, Natalie von Bertouch was highly-rated for her leadership skills at both domestic and international level.
After making her Test debut in 2004, Bode was a key part of Australia’s 2007 Netball World Cup-winning side and elevated to the role of vice-captain in 2008. When Sharelle McMahon was sidelined through injury in 2011, Bode stepped up as captain to lead the Diamonds to back-to-back world titles in Singapore that year.
She was the inaugural captain of the Adelaide Thunderbirds in the ANZ Championship and held that position for six years, leading the team to titles in 2010 and 2013.
She retired from all levels of netball in 2013.
