Dianne McDonald was a key part of Australia’s triumphant 1983 Netball World Cup team in Singapore.
The West Australian wing defence was known for her ability to read the play and her anticipation enabled her to cut off many opposition attacks.
McDonald’s work ethic and tenacity were also features of her game that earned her selection in the Australian squad for the first time in 1981.
After her playing days, McDonald spent 10 years in various coaching positions at state, national and international level. She was the inaugural coach of the Perth Orioles in the Commonwealth Bank Trophy in 1997 and also led Western Australia’s 21/U and Open state teams.
She also coached Hong Kong at the 1999 Netball World Cup held in New Zealand.
