A 12-strong team has been selected for the upcoming international test series against Jamaica in Adelaide, Perth and Melbourne.
World No.1 ranked the Origin Australian Diamonds will host No.3 ranked the Sunshine Girls in the lead up to the Glasgow 2026 Commonwealth Games this July.
The team was selected at a training camp at the AIS in Canberra, supported by Commonwealth Games Australia’s Green2Gold2Great Investment Program.
Adelaide Thunderbirds Matilda Garrett and Georgie Horjus return to the Diamonds line-up for the three-match series that opens on Thursday 5 February at the Adelaide Entertainment Centre.
Garrett is joined in defence by Courtney Bruce (Sunshine Coast Lightning), Sarah Klau (NSW Swifts) and Joanna Weston (Melbourne Vixens).
Kiera Austin (Melbourne Vixens), Sophie Dwyer (GIANTS Netball), Sophie Garbin (Melbourne Vixens) and Cara Koenen (Sunshine Coast Lightning) round out the shooting circle.
The midcourt line-up also includes Kate Moloney (Melbourne Vixens), Jamie-Lee Price (Melbourne Mavericks) and captain Liz Watson (Sunshine Coast Lightning).
The series then heads west to Perth’s RAC Arena on Sunday 8 February for the second match, before the final match is played on Wednesday 11 February at Melbourne’s John Cain Arena in partnership with the Victorian Government through Visit Victoria.
Watson (97), Moloney (48) and Koenen (47) are also on track to hit test cap milestones.
Watson would become just the sixth Australian netballer to reach 100 test caps behind champions Liz Ellis (122), Sharelle McMahon (118), Cath Cox (108), Vicki Wilson (104) and Caitlin Bassett (102).
A number of Suncorp Super Netball stars will go head-to-head across the series, with Kadie-Ann Dehaney (West Coast Fever) and Latanya Wilson (Adelaide Thunderbirds) selected in the Jamaican team.
The Diamonds last played Jamaica in the 2023 Netball World Cup, winning 57-54 in a semi final epic.
Origin Australian Diamonds head coach Stacey Marinkovich expects another tough series against the Sunshine Girls.
“This team was selected at a training camp at the AIS in Canberra where the squad continued the challenge each other while driving training standards,” Marinkovich said.
“After a strong international test series against South Africa and New Zealand last year, I am excited to see what the team can bring out onto the court against world No.3 ranked Jamaica.
“Coming up against Jamaica will be a significant test as we continue to build towards this year’s pinnacle event the Commonwealth Games.
“We hope to see packed stadiums in Adelaide, Perth and Melbourne as we set our sights on Glasgow.”
Every match of the series will be available with no ad-breaks during play on Kayo Freebies, Foxtel and BINGE.
