The Silver Ferns team of 12 was announced today following a week-long selection trial in Auckland with Wells and young defender Temalisi Fakahokotau the new faces in the line-up.
Midcourter Grace Rasmussen and the versatile Bailey Mes have also been recalled to the New Zealand side after strong ANZ Championship seasons.
Along with the Constellation Cup side, Silver Ferns coach Waimarama Taumaunu also named her extended 2014/2015 squad of 19 athletes.
“We were expecting some tight competition for places in the Squad and we certainly haven’t been disappointed,” Taumaunu said.
“We have confidence in the squad of 19 players selected and we’ll certainly be developing some new player combinations as we continue building towards the Netball World Cup in August next year.”
Wells has previously represented Australia at 19/U and 21/U level and spent four seasons with the Queensland Firebirds before accepting an offer to move across the Tasman and join the Central Pulse for the 2015 ANZ Championship season.
The first Test of the Constellation Cup is at Invercargill on 2 October before the series returns to Australia for games in Melbourne (8 October) and Sydney (11 October). The final Test will be played in Auckland on 15 October.
