With only two weeks to go until nominations close for the 2016 Australia Post One Netball Community Awards, the netball community are encouraged to shine a light on individuals, Clubs and Associations who create and support inclusive local netball environments for everyone, regardless of background or ability.
Now in its third year, the Awards celebrate individuals, Clubs and Associations in local communities who go above and beyond to ensure everyone, regardless of background, skill or ability, is welcome in netball.
Paraburdoo Netball Association was one of seven national winners of the Australia Post One Netball Community Awards last year for their work in creating opportunities for increased netball participation in their remote community in the Pilbara region.
The Association has been able to purchase new uniforms using the Australia Post Load&Go card prize and since winning the Award, the team has expanded and has taken a group of players to the Under 12s North West Netball Championships for the first time in more than five years.
“Winning the Award has meant a lot to Paraburdoo Netball Association. Not only were we able to purchase 22 brand new uniforms, but achieving this accolade has opened the team’s eyes to how influential the game of netball can be and how it can positively impact individuals and the community,” said Joanne Cunningham, President of the Paraburdoo Netball Association.
There are great prizes to be awarded to up to eight winners, who will be chosen to receive prize packs worth more than $1,000 including, Australia Post Load&Go cards for the winners’ Club or Association.
