Australian Diamonds Head Coach Lisa Alexander says the team got down to “serious business” at their two-day Pre-Departure Camp ahead of their Netball Quad Series campaign, which begins in Auckland on Saturday.
The team now travel to Auckland to continue their preparations ahead of the first Test.
Alexander said she is impressed with how the team came together following their individual preparations at the conclusion of the ANZ Championship season.
“The past few days have been busy as usual because we have to fit so much in. We had a nice balance to the camp,” Alexander explained.
“I’m really impressed with how the Diamonds have come into camp. They’ve been very well prepared, you can see that they’ve done their work.
The Diamonds will play South Africa in the first Test of the series, for the first time since their 2015 Netball World Cup SYDNEY qualification round match.
Alexander said it will be a difficult game although the coaching staff are doing all they can to ensure the team is prepared.
“It’s going to be a very difficult game for us against South Africa as it’s our first match for a long time and South Africa are improving and getting better all of the time. I expect it to be close.”
“We haven’t gone overboard on the performance analysis quite yet, but we will do more when we get to New Zealand.
“We’ll fine down towards preparation and we’ll do some group work and might do some unit work as well to make sure we’re as well prepared as we possibly can be.”
The Diamonds’ Quad Series Team will play their first Test of the Netball Quad Series against South Africa on Saturday 27 August. Limited tickets are available for the Diamonds v England Roses at the Adelaide Entertainment Centre on Wednesday 31 August. Secure your seat via Ticketek.
