Test Debut

25th February, 2005

Noted for her speed and consistency, Selina Hornibrook (nee Gilsenan) was first named in the Australian squad in 2002 but had to wait until 2005 before she made her Test debut. That came against England, where Australia won by 40 goals against England.

A rib injury briefly sidelined her but she regained her place in the team for the 2006 Commonwealth Games in Melbourne. She was Australia’s best in the gold medal match against New Zealand to cement her position as the team’s first choice wing attack.

She announced her international retirement after the 2007 Netball World Cup.

Domestically, Horinbrook was a regular fixture in the Sydney Swifts line-up in the Commonwealth Bank Trophy from 2000. She played in four premierships, being named best-on-court in their 2007 triumph.

She remained with the Swifts in the inaugural ANZ Championship season in 2008 and announced her retirement after the team won the title that same year.
