A member of Australia’s first ever international team in 1938, Edna Medcalf also excelled at women’s basketball, cricket and golf at representative levels.
She was the first New South Wales player to represent Australia. A recognised goal shooter, she could also play at wing attack.
After her playing career ended she continued to be involved in the sport as a state selector between 1948-50 and then again in 1952. She coached the NSW Open side in 1951 where good friend and netball legend Anne Clark was team manager.
Medcalf was made a life member of the NSW Netball Association in 1952 and inducted into the Netball NSW Hall of Fame in 2012.
