An accurate goal shooter, Dianne Eckert (nee Murphy) was a member of Australia’s triumphant 1983 Netball World Cup team.
The South Australian was first chosen in the national squad in 1982 and remained part of the set-up for the next six years.
Accuracy was one of Eckert’s key strengths. She represented South Australia for a number of years and was named The Advertiser Netballer of the Year in 1989.
Eckert has enjoyed a long association with Garville Netball Club, one of South Australia’s most successful teams, for a number of years as firstly a player and then as a coach with its senior and junior sides.
The club has named one of its annual awards after her for the Most Improved Player.
