Netball Inclusion course goes online

4 Download your Inclusion Action ManualNetball Clubs and Associations across Australia can learn about the practical ways to create more inclusive netball environments with the launch of the Netball Inclusion Course on the MyNetball eLearning platform.

Following the success of the ‘Connected Clubs & Communities’ face-to-face workshops delivered across Australia since January 2015, the content of the workshops will now be more accessible to the broader netball community through this free, online course.

The Netball Inclusion Course, like the workshops, is based on Play By The Rules’ ‘Seven Pillars of Inclusion’ framework, which provides an inclusive sport framework for sporting organisations from the grassroots to the national level.

The Course introduces the common elements that contribute to creating more inclusive and welcoming netball environments, such as communication and policy, and provides netball specific examples and scenarios to explore each of the seven pillars.

Paul Oliver, One Netball Advisory Group member and Sports Project Advisor to the Australian Human Rights Commission, developed the workshop content and worked closely with Netball Australia on the creation of the Netball Inclusion Course.

“The e-learning course is highly informative, interactive and engaging. It was designed to constantly motivate users to question how they can develop and implement a more inclusive environment at their Clubs and Associations,” Oliver said.

Learning does not stop at the conclusion of this eLearning Course.

Clubs and Associations can then work through the Inclusion Action Plan which provides a list of short, medium and long term actions that can be taken to engage and support everyone in local netball communities, regardless of background or ability.

Progress through the Plan can then be measured through the Inclusion Action Survey, which enables Clubs and Associations to keep track of their improvement and identify areas to develop, with a simple measurement tool.

Further resources are accessible through a resource library of fact sheets, videos and other tools on the One Netball website to enable Clubs and Associations to continue their inclusion journeys.
