Netball Australia has announced a new two-year partnership with Celebrate Life Foundation, the community arm of Swisse, which will see it become the official charity of Netball Australia and the Australian Diamonds.
The Celebrate Life Foundation was created to inspire wellness throughout the community and help ‘bend the trend’ of increasing rates of preventable disease.
It supports community programs that promote a greater awareness and understanding of the three pillars of lifelong wellness: mindfulness, movement and nutrition.
Under the partnership, Netball Australia and the world champion Australian Diamonds are the inaugural Foundation Ambassadors.
To mark the occasion, Round 14 of the ANZ Championship will see match balls in the foundation’s theme colors being used for games in Adelaide and Perth.
In addition, The Celebrate Life Foundation will also become the official charity partner of NetFest, Netball Australia’s mass participation event that’s held on the Gold Coast from 16-19 October 2014.
NetFest draws thousands of competitors to the Gold Coast each year to take part in the traditional outdoor netball and beach competitions with the emphasis on having fun.
Netball Australia CEO Kate Palmer said all profits from the official NetFest party will be donated to the Celebrate Life Foundation.
Palmer said Netball Australia was delighted to partner with the Celebrate Life Foundation.
“Netball Australia supports the philosophies of the Celebrate Life Foundation and its role in contributing to programs that promote greater understanding of mindfulness, movement and nutrition,” Palmer said.
“These three elements are critical to the performance of the Australian Diamonds and prepares them to take on the world.
“Netball’s role in the community promotes good health and happiness which makes the Celebrate Life Foundation a perfect fit for our sport.”
As part of the partnership, leading Australian netballers will also help promote the hugely successful Swisse Color Run in cities across Australia, which generate additional funds for the Celebrate Life Foundation.
Swisse Head of Government Relations, Public Policy and Community Justin Howden is thrilled with the association.
“Australian netballers are the best in the world and truly represent what we are trying to achieve through the Foundation. We are thrilled to be about to help thousands of Australians through the Celebrate Life Foundation and really change people’s lives,” he said.
