NAIDOC Week celebrations are being held across Australia from Sunday 8 July through to Sunday 15 July, to celebrate the history, culture and achievements of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples. NAIDOC is celebrated not only in Indigenous communities, but by Australians from all walks of life.
This year, NAIDOC Week is in celebration of the invaluable contributions that Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander women have made – and continue to make – to our communities, our families, our rich history and to our nation.
To kick off the celebrations of NAIDOC week, Suncorp Super Netball held its inaugural Indigenous Round this weekend, where all teams sported custom designed dresses worn by all the players.
Earlier in the week Trawlwoolway story teller and artist Lisa Kennedy guided the staff at Netball Australia through a deep listening session and encouraged us all to connect to the country by creating our own paintings.
