Via the click of a button, you can now complete the Bench Official Education Course from the comfort of your own home which is designed to arm participants with the skills and knowledge required to fulfil all Bench Official roles.
Netball Australia has introduced a similar course for Level One umpires and Australia remains a world leader in providing online education programs for grassroots officials.
“The creation of the online resource fulfills one of the key Netball World Cup 2015 SYDNEY objectives to deliver an enduring legacy for the sport,” Netball Australia’s Head of Sport Development Anne-Marie Phippard said.
“The course is based on the International Netball Federation Bench Officials Manual, with the key benefit of the course being the ability for participants to learn in a self-paced environment at a time and place that individually suits them.
“The course is accessible all year round, is free of charge to complete, and can be accessed by anyone from across the world. The course covers not only the importance of being a bench official, but also the roles of scoring, timekeeping, and extra time procedures.”
In Australia, the Bench Officials Education Course is also one of two pre-requisites for obtaining the State Bench Official Accreditation and subsequently the National Bench Officials Accreditation.
With Sydney’s Netball World Cup just over six months away, both NWC2015 and Netball Australia are hoping this exciting year in international netball will encourage people to broaden their knowledge of the game, so they can remain actively involved in the growth of the sport for years to come.
