Swifts midcourter Maddy Proud stopped by the Peninsula Lions Netball Club this week to congratulate them on a great result so far across the Suncorp NetSetGO program.
Now into their third season, the growing Peninsula Lions Netball Club are scoring serious goals in the participation game. Located in the central coast region of New South Wales and affiliated with the Woy Woy Peninsula Netball Association, the club has received an additional ten registrations for the Suncorp NetSetGO program compared to the previous year.
Club member, Catherine Bailey is thrilled to see the association grow with players getting involved in the Suncorp NetSetGO program.
“Our club is relatively new and was set up to address a gap in the competition, allowing kids to join teams with friends and encouraging friendship groups as the basis for our teams, not ability.
We formed in late 2015 and are into our third season. We now have 39 registered NetSetGO participants, three senior and six junior teams,” said Bailey.
NSW Swifts star and Suncorp NetSetGo ambassador Maddy Proud visited the club earlier this week and was greeted with eager little netballers ready to take her on in some skills training. Post session was filled with laughs, autographs and a few happy snaps and selfies.
“I had great fun visiting Peninsula Lions Netball. The kids were so eager to learn and get active. There were some amazing skills on show, I hope they enjoyed themselves as much as I did.
“Peninsula Lions have done an amazing effort to create such a strong netball community in just two years. The club is thriving, they have developed a passionate and welcoming environment for players of all abilities,” said Proud.
Suncorp NetSetGO gives girls and boys aged between 5 and 10 a great introduction to netball.
