Indigenous girls’ netball trip of a lifetime

The tiny and remote indigenous community of Ngukurr is about as far as you can get from Melbourne in Australia.

With an eight-hour drive just to reach Darwin airport, it was no small feat for 12 keen young Ngukurr netballers to make the trek south for a whirlwind netball trip of a lifetime.

The group of girls, who attend Ngukurr School, were invited to Melbourne and had their trip made possible by the Confident Girls Foundation, which helps vulnerable Australian girls thrive through netball.

As part of the experience the girls were given the chance to play against other school teams from Melbourne, as well as Collingwood Magpies players and taking a tour of the Magpies’ training facility.

But the real highlight was meeting the Australian Diamonds and watching them train. Or was it visiting the Melbourne Zoo?

You decide!

Check out their beautiful journey in the video below.
