Grab a ball and get shooting

There’s never been a better month to practise your goal shooting!

In June, the Confident Girls Foundation, the official charity partner of Netball Australia, is asking players across Australia to ‘Give for a Goal’, and shoot goals to raise money to help vulnerable Australian girls.

Do it at a game, do it at training or do it in your schoolyard or local park! Just sign up some sponsors and every goal you shoot will give a vulnerable girl the opportunity to achieve her own life goals.

We’re aiming for 100,000 goals to raise $100,000, so how many goals can YOU do?

Last year the Confident Girls Foundation raised $700,000 in its first year to support 52,000 vulnerable Australian girls by helping to eliminate key drivers of gender bias, including financial barriers, lack of leadership opportunities, isolation, gender stereotypes that negatively affect young women, and barriers to physical activity.

Confident Girls Foundation Executive Officer, Jennifer Jordan, said the campaign would be instrumental in providing opportunities for vulnerable girls to thrive through netball.

“‘Give for a Goal’ connects with everyone, from the little girls who love practising goals in the backyard, to the netball court on game day, all the way to the professional athletes in the Suncorp Super Netball ‘Give for a Goal’ round,” Jordan said.

“As Australians, we love sport. We recognise the power that sport can play in connecting communities, building friends and keeping the mind and body healthy. Sport can change lives. We believe all Australian girls should have access to these opportunities.”
