Defending champions Southern Force edged the Queensland Fusion out of the top four in a dramatic final round of the Australian Netball League action in Sydney.

The Force replaced the Fusion in fourth spot on the ladder and set-up a semi-final showdown against title favorites the Victorian Fury after comprehensively winning both their final round matches at the Anne Clark Centre.

Their 34-goal win over the Netball New South Blues and 26-goal victory against the Territory Storm was enough to help the Force overtake the Fusion, who had a bye in the final round, on percentage.

Goalers Laura Packard, Stephanie Puopolo and Georgie Virgo were on target for the Force all weekend as they now look to defend the title they won last year.

The Semi-Finals and Grand Final of the competition will be played at Netball SA Stadium in Adelaide next weekend.

With the AIS relinquishing their spot in the top four, the Netball New South Wales Waratahs sealed their Semi-Final berth after opening the road with an 18-goal win over the Storm.

The Fury finished the regular season undefeated, the first team to achieve that feat since the Waratahs in 2011, after winning both their matches over the weekend against the Canberra Darters and Western Sting.

In Saturday’s Semi-Finals, the Fury will take on the Force at 5pm with the second-placed Victorian Flames, who also had the bye last round, hosting the Waratahs at 7pm.

The two winners will meet in the Grand Final on Sunday at noon. The two losers will play off for third and fourth place at 10am.
