Six of Australia’s emerging young umpires have been given an opportunity to further their development by being invited to attend a specialist national camp at Netball Australia’s Centre of Excellence.
New South Wales pair Tayla Favell and Tamara Welsford, Rebecca Ferguson (South Australia), Timothy Marshall (Victoria), Christine Johnston (Western Australia) and Sarah Slattery (ACT) have been selected to attending the Developing Umpire Camp.
The Developing Umpire Camp will be held in Canberra between 20-22 May and is aligned to the national 17/U athlete camp.
Developing Umpire program coaches Raechel Richards, Di Cocker and Marj Kerslake will deliver the camp content while a number of umpire mentors will also be in attendance to further develop their umpiring coaching skills.
They are: Carmel Weatherburn (ACT), Chris Hall (NSW), Natasha Trestrail (SA), John Fox (Tasmania), Narelle Foster (WA), Heather Carroll (Victoria), LeeAnn Quilter (Queensland) and Susan Pannell (NT).
Developing Umpire Program Head Coach Jacqui Jashari said it was a great opportunity for the six umpires invited to the camp.
“These umpires have demonstrated strong trademark behaviors on and off the court that’s expected of all umpires in Netball Australia’s pathway programs,” Jashari said.
“All have shown they are committed to improving their umpiring skills.”
