Goal attack Stephanie Wood said despite the Samsung Diamonds securing the Constellation Cup trophy after just three tests, they won’t be resting on their laurels in the final game of the series.
The Diamonds host the Silver Ferns on Saturday at Sydney’s Qudos Bank Arena for the fourth Test of the Constellation Cup, Wood insistent that the group will be aiming to improve.
“We’ll be working on our third quarter and our start before the next Test in Sydney. The last few games we have been really slow to start.
“It is really, really important to still get the win on Saturday.
“As a group we are not satisfied with (the third-Test performance). Yes it’s great that we got the win, but we are looking to improve each game.”
Despite taking a 3-0 series lead, Wood said the Diamonds will be anticipating a full-firing Silver Ferns line-up in Sydney.
“They’ve got nothing to lose,” Wood said.
“Adelaide was a really tough match. Despite the scoreboard reflecting the largest margin we have won by, it was a really tough match out there.
“The Ferns are definitely going to come out firing on Saturday.”
Wood, scored 14 goals in her fifth game in the green and gold during Wednesday’s third-Test, combining with both captain Caitlin Bassett and Caitlin Thwaites throughout the match.
Having played alongside both Bassett and Thwaites domestically, Wood said she had no problems adjusting to each of their different shooting styles throughout the match.
“It definitely changes up from going Bass to Thwaity,” Wood explained.
“I’m very comfortable with both of them, having played with both of them over the last three years; Bass at Sunshine Coast and also Caity at the Swifts. It felt really good.”
