Diamonds named kids’ favourite

THE accolades for the Australian Netball Diamonds continue, named Favourite Sports Team (Australia/New Zealand) at the global Nickelodeon Kids’ Choice Awards Show in Los Angeles.

The award, voted by Nickelodeon viewers across Australia and New Zealand, saw the Diamonds named ahead of a shortlist also including the Wallabies, All Blacks and Silver Ferns.

Adding another trophy to the cabinet, this award reaffirms the Diamonds as the darlings of Australian sport.

Diamonds Coach Lisa Alexander said, “it’s an absolute honour to be recognised across Australia and New Zealand as Kids’ Favourite Sports Team.

“The team prides itself on being role-models for our young fans on and off the netball court.

“Our community roots are important to us, you’ll see our players regularly conducting netball clinics and connecting with fans on social media.

“This award is terrific feedback that we’re engaging with our young fans in a meaningful way,” she said.

Kids and families cast votes for the Kids’ Choice Awards in 22 global categories, in addition to five Aussie/Kiwi categories.

Fans were able to vote for their favourites across all of Nickelodeon’s digital platforms including, the Nick Play App, along with Twitter using #KCA.

Earlier this month the Diamonds were also named Destination NSW Team of the Year by public vote at the AIS Sports Performance Awards.
