Defender Courtney Bruce said she can’t wait to be back playing on Australian soil in the final two Tests of the Constellation Cup.
The youngster acknowledged the importance of starting strong in the Constellation Cup, especially away from home against fierce rivals the Silver Ferns.
“It’s always hard to win on New Zealand soil, so getting this second win really reassures all of the positive things we have been doing in training,” Bruce said.
“I can’t wait to get back to Australia and have an Aussie crowd behind us, playing at some venues that we’re used to.
“I’m just excited to look up at the crowd and see a lot of green and gold.”
The 23-year-old has featured in every one of the Diamonds’ Quad Series and Constellation Cup matches, notching up five Test caps since her debut in August.
Bruce said that the intensity of the Silver Ferns contest has helped her develop her international game.
“I still pinch myself every time Lisa (Alexander) says that I’m getting the opportunity again,” Bruce said.
“But it’s really good have April, Rav and Gabs out the front of me. I just view it as a unit of the four of us. The respect that we have for each other keeps me going and contributes to my game.
“The intensity is crazy. I enjoy playing it, I know it’s helping my game.”
The Diamonds will face the Silver Ferns in the third match of the 2017 Constellation Cup at 7.00pm ACDT Wednesday 11 October. Tickets are available for the third and fourth Tests in Adelaide and Sydney. Get tickets now. Watch live on 9Gem and the Netball Live app.
