The Diamonds lead the series 1-0 after scoring a 17-goal win in the opening Test at Invercargill last Thursday night and Geitz said the team is eager to continue its winning against the Silver Ferns over the remaining three matches before heading into a two-Test series against England.
The Diamonds have won the past six Tests against New Zealand and their overall winning streak currently stands at 14.
“We’ve just grown as a team and we’ve got a great sense of confidence about us,” Geitz said.
“Momentum is a wonderful thing for a team to experience and that’s what happening at the moment.
“That can all come to a sudden halt (but) there’s no sense of complacency among the playing group and we really do (continue to push ourselves).
“That’s the wonderful thing about the team; we’re always searching for how can we be better.”
Chemist Warehouse will be the official sponsor of the Diamonds for the next two years and the upcoming Real Insurance Netball Test Series which begins in Melbourne on Wednesday night.
With the Netball World Cup in Sydney less than 12 months away, Geitz said the Real Insurance Netball Test Series against New Zealand and England was an important part of their preparation.
She said Diamonds’ coach Lisa Alexander always had one eye on the future by injecting new players into the side.
“That’s been really exciting for Australian netball is the confidence Lisa’s had in blooding young players,” Geitz said.
“That’s brought much enthusiasm, excitement, fresh faces (and) new skills to the team. That’s important because it’s a full on calendar and you do need your squad of 20 (athletes) ready to go at any time.”
The 2014 Constellation Cup continues on Wednesday 8 October when the Australian Diamonds host the Silver Ferns at Hisense Arena, Melbourne, from 7.00pm (AEST). The match will be shown live on FOX Sports and SBS2 and also broadcast live on ABC Grandstand online.
