Australian Diamonds coach Lisa Alexander and National Selectors have confirmed three athletes have been invited to join the Diamonds’ Squad Camp at Netball Australia’s Centre of Excellence in Canberra later this month.
Queensland Firebirds midcourter Caitlyn Nevins, NSW Swifts defender Maddy Turner (pictured) and West Coast Fever defender Courtney Bruce will join the Diamonds’ squad in Canberra.
The three invitees will provide additional support to the squad during the two-day mid-ANZ Championship season camp.
Nevins and Bruce attended the ‘Future Diamonds Focus’ camp in September last year, a specialist camp developed for identifying potential talent and providing a taste of the Diamonds performance environment.
This camp will be Turner’s first taste of the Diamonds’ environment. She’s been a standout at 21/U level the past four years for South Australia and New South Wales, winning back-to-back tournament MVP awards (2014-2015).
Alexander said the three athletes were looking forward to training with the squad, supported by National Support Staff.
“Our invitees are excited to join the Diamonds,” she said.
“They will be involved in all sessions and have an opportunity to work closely with the squad and National Support Staff.”
The Diamonds’ squad will travel to the Centre of Excellence on Sunday 29 May.
