National Volunteering Week has given Netball Australia the opportunity to share and celebrate the dedication, passion, initiative and success of just some of our committed netball volunteers in Australia.
From the implementation of exciting programs for children, to the development of players currently on the national stage and the ongoing viability of clubs in cities and remote locations it remains clear that volunteers are the foundation on which growth of the game is built.
These were but a few stories.
Fortunately for the sport there are countless others, tireless workers who give of themselves for the benefit of others.
We are lucky in Australia to be exposed on a weekly basis to the best players in the world. Yet for each player we see on the national and international stage there were hundreds of volunteers who facilitated their experience to get there.
The lifeblood of community netball are the people we bump into at the courts each week.
The ones who get there early to prepare, who spend their weekend umpiring or coaching, who spend their weeknights around the kitchen table improving their club and who are passionate about making netball an inclusive sport for everyone in the community
So this weekend when you’re down at the courts, take the time to say `thanks and well done’ to one of these people. A little bit of recognition can go a long way!
Netball Australia would like to thank the thousands of people across the country who fall under this banner for making the sport what it is today and what it will be in the future.
