Following the success of their show in Sydney during the Netball World Cup, Australia’s three most capped players of all-time Liz Ellis, Sharelle McMahon and Catherine Cox, will be back on stage to do it all again at Melbourne’s Comedy Theatre on Saturday, 24 October.
`The Centurions’ is the brainchild of well-known TV commentator and netball identity Sue Gaudion and it earned rave reviews from the audience who attended the two-and-a-half live theatre show in Sydney.
Tickets are now on sale for the Melbourne show and, with the Diamonds taking on New Zealand in the Constellation Cup Test at Hisense Arena the following day – 25 October – Gaudion said they hope plenty of people will make it a netball weekend.
“Right from the start Melbourne has been extraordinary in their support so we always knew that would be our next show,” Gaudion said.
“Netball is huge in Victoria, especially in the country, so we’re hoping that people will come down to Melbourne and make a weekend of it, go along and support our world champion Diamonds the following day.”
Ellis, McMahon and Cox will share stories with the audience both individually and collectively about their lives and netball careers.
Gaudion will also conduct question and answer sessions with all three as well. There will be unseen footage and images and plenty of interaction with the audience. She said the show in Sydney received a lot of positive reactions and that encouraged the group to look to bring it to Melbourne.
“We wanted it to be successful but we didn’t get ahead of ourselves so that kept us really level headed,” Gaudion said.
“So we were rapt (with the great feedback). It was beyond expectations.”
