Coming off the back of a career-best season, Bassett reached the 100-game milestone in the ANZ Championship. The West Australian is regarded as one of the world’s premier goal shooters, becoming the first Australian to score 600 goals and spearheaded West Coast Fever’s first ever finals appearance in a season where she also earned her first selection in the ANZ Championship Foxtel All-Star Team as goal shooter. She made her Australian Diamonds debut in 2008, and became a household name at the 2011 Netball World Cup where she scored the winning goal in the last second of extra-time to clinch Australia’s victory. Bassett finished the tournament with 151 goals at 97 per cent accuracy. In 2014 she had an outstanding international campaign, scoring 391 goals at an average of 33 goals per game and 87 per cent accuracy. Her 49 goals in the Commonwealth Games Final against New Zealand was the best international shooting performance by a Diamond since Sharelle McMahon’s 47 goal effort against South Africa in 2001.
