About

A defender, Kathryn Harby-Williams was known for her tenacity across and leadership across her 11-year international career.

Adept at playing at either goal defence or wing defence, she made it tough for shooters and midcourt opponents alike to shoot or receive the ball cleanly.

Away from the court, she was a driving force in ensuring that Australia’s elite players received their share of the pie as the sport moved into an era of professionalism. The establishment of the Australia Netball Player’s Association (ANPA) ensured that players finally had a voice that represented them.

During her time in New Zealand, she returned to netball with the Auckland Diamonds in the National Bank Cup and was crowned the league’s most valuable player aged 34, before finally hanging up her dress in 2006.
