About

Although she was born and raised in South Australia, Jane Altschwager spent the majority of her career at the elite level playing in New South Wales.

Altschwager earned her first Australian squad selection in 2000 and made her international debut as a 20-year-old in the final Test at Wembley Stadium on the 2001 tour of England. She remained in the squad until 2005.

She was also a member of Australia’s 2000 21/U team that won the World Youth Netball Cup in Wales.

Domestically, Altschwager was part of the Sydney Swifts line-up for the inaugural season of the Commonwealth Bank Trophy in 1997, being promoted to co-captain two years later while still a teenager.

After switching to the Hunter Jaegers in 2000, Altschwager returned to the Swifts the following year and stayed with the team until 2005. She then moved back to the Jaegers as captain for the final two years of the competition.

In 2009 her home state team the Adelaide Thunderbirds lured her out of retirement to play in the ANZ Championship. In 2010 she was lured to New Zealand side Central Pulse as captain but only a spent a season there before returning to Adelaide.
