Australia’s best umpires are heading to Canberra this weekend for the inaugural high performance umpire’s camp.
Over the two days, 13 umpires from across Australia will take part in sessions with specialist staff from the AIS in areas such as strength and conditioning, nutrition, injury management, wellbeing and recovery.
This camp is part of the new Netball Australia High Performance Umpire Pathway, released late last year with the focus on holistic umpire development.
As part of the camp, the umpires will also be involved in a number of the Australian Diamonds match play sessions across the weekend. The national team is also at the AIS in Canberra taking part in a Commonwealth Games Simulation Camp.
Netball Australia’s Head of Sport Development AnneMarie Phippard said the camp reinforces the sport’s commitment to support and develop Australia’s high performance umpires.
“This camp presents an excellent opportunity for our highest ranked umpires to immerse themselves in the high performance environment of the Australian Institute of Sport and learn from some of the leading specialists in the country,” Phippard said.
