NITV to showcase netball

2014 Round 1 ANZ Championship game - Swifts v FeverThe television coverage of the ANZ Championship continues to expand with the National Indigenous Television channel announcing it will broadcast one match a week to Australian fans this season.

The first game to be shown on NITV will be a replay of the Round 1 clash between the NSW Swifts and West Coast Fever at 10pm (AEST) on Tuesday, 4 March.

Every Tuesday night NITV – Channel 34 on Free-to-Air – will replay the SBS 2 Game of the Round broadcast live to viewers on Sunday afternoons.

NITV Channel Manager Tanya Denning is thrilled to be able to showcase the world’s top netballers throughout the season.

“Netball is a popular sport among Indigenous communities,” Denning said.

“Broadcasting the professional netball games reflects NITV’s commitment to profiling women in a wide spectrum of sports, from rugby to golf.”

ANZ Championship General Manager Andy Crook is delighted the league continues to expand its coverage into new markets.

“Athletes like West Coast defender Josie Janz are fantastic role models for young indigenous girls who aspire to play our great game at the top level,” Crook said.

“So it’s exciting to be able to showcase their talents to another free-to-air audience during the season.”
